Alabaster has been used as a material for carving for thousands of years. Especially loved by the Ancient Egyptians, sculptures have been found dating back to 1300BC.
Many beautiful vessels and statues were discovered in the Pharoahs' tombs, and were found to have contained precious perfumes and oils.
Today we can still enjoy this beautiful stone with hand carved items produced by local Egyptian craftsmen, in many cases still using original techniques.
